This post is last available in german/deutsch.We made a tasty sunflower seed bread today. Fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside. Homemade bread is simply something fine. Since you always have flour and yeast at home, nothing stands in the way of baking a delicious bread.
ACTIVATE DRY YEAST
To activate the active dry yeast, put lukewarm water in cup/jar stir yeast and sugar. Cover and let it sit for about 5 minutes or until the yeast activates. If the yeast doesn’t activate, dump the entire mixture and start over again.
Sunflower seed bread recipe
500g spelt flour (type 630) or whole wheat flour (type 1050)
125g sunflower seeds, some more to sprinkle
1 tsp salt
450g lukewarm water
1 pack of active dry yeast or 1/2 cube of fresh yeast
1 tsp sugar
1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
Lightly grease the baking pan and set aside.
Put lukewarm water in a measuring cup and stir yeast and sugar. Cover and let it rest for 5 minutes until the yeast starts to bubble.
As soon as the yeast is activated, add the flour and the apple cider vinegar and mix the dough with a dough hook. Finally, mix in the sunflower seeds.
Grease a 30 cm baking tin or line it with baking paper and pour into the dough. Leave in a warm place for 30 to 40 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 160 ° C. Then bake the whole grain bread for 50 to 60 minutes.
Let the bread cool a little and then throw it out of the form.

I followed the recipe step by step, except I substituted part of the spelt flour for whole grain wheat flour. It came out beautifully, and the best part is that it preserves really good without losing the crunch. Thank you so much for the detailed instructions.
Hi Lucia,
so great to hear that! Thank you sooo much.
Enjoy the bread .
Happy new week

This was pretty good/ok. My loaf sank in the middle though, and everything I read says not high enough oven temp. Was a bit lacking in flavor too.
